After TechVista 2006

This is the continuation of my blog on Tech Vista 2006.

After the TechVista completed at 6.00pm, we (all the official Microsoft Research Employees) set off to the Oberoi Hotel, which is much more amazing than the Taj. It was very near by and we could go on foot! There we had our dinner. I even had a snap with Dan Ling, the MD of MSR, Redmond.(fotos are coming soon!). Had some nice dinner there! After that we celebrated there the birthday of Udai pawar singh, one of the MSRI Employees. Then we went to iBAR for an after party! We then reached our office at 12.30 midnight...After that people enjoyed even at office till late in the morning!

Overall it was the most grand celebration I have seen!

Microsoft Research TECHVista-2006

Hey, Here I give a brief description of the Microsoft Research Techvista which I attended!

Microsoft Techvista is an annual technical symposium of Microsoft Research India. MSR India was started exactly 1 year ago. It began in the morning at 9.15 am on time on 12th january,2006. The guest was Kapil Sibal, minister of IT, India. Many big persons including Sir Tony Hoare, turing award winner and inventor of Quick sort, Mr. Dan Ling ,Mr. Rick Rashid, Mr. RajReddy, the only Indian Turing award winner, etc. were present for the event. The even took place at Taj Residency, Bangalore. Three of the BITS professors, Mr. Shan Balasubramanium, Rahul Banarjee and Balasubramanium from EEE attended the event. Mr. Kapil Sibal unvieled the Virtual India project, the only interactive map project for India. This was presented by the project manager, Mr. Joseph Joy. After that talks were continued. They were the most interesting including the topics on Human Robot (Latest advances in Robotics..the demos were amazing!), Finding Julia Robots(given a photograph it searches u the person in a movie!),Tony Hoare's 40 years of computing, Wireless networks for Indian telecomm by Ashok Jhunjhunwala, etc.

It was later followed by a panel session on "Careers in Advaced Research". The panelist include the directors of Microsoft Research Labs from India, China, Europe, etc.
All the attendees were given away with a gift game called Tik-tak-toe, which was very lovely!

The most fascinating thing is that students were provided with a student CD kit, which included Microsoft Windows Professional CD with SP2 included, Visual C++ 2005, and some other SDK!!!
This is the most fascinating thing for me! Not to mention a beautiful bound conference book too was given which pre included within the briefs of talks by the speakers! and also a wonderful lunch at Taj Residency!

So those who missed it, wait untill TechVista 2007!
