Queueing at Forum

It was a great surprise for me to see people standing out in queue to get pass the metal detector and get into Forum, Bangalore. It looked strange coz.. normally you see a bunch of people trying to get in...
This implies two things.. First, people learned some discipline and it looked so nice when people follow a queue.. there is no confusion.. there is no anxiety.. its all peace.. Second.. it also is an indication of increased number of people visiting Forum in particular and malls in general.. Has the population of Bangalore grown further? This is sad though..

Reopening of FCI

This is a very great news for all the previous FCI(fertilizer corporation of India) employees.. The union govt. has decided to reopen the closed FCI units.. But its too late for all of us to be called back :(

The reason heard was.. Reliance gas pipe line is passing through that area..and the govt. wants to convert the existing coal based FCI units to gas based units thereby reducing the cost of production??

Here is the news article on it:
http://www1.economictimes.indiatimes.com/Govt_to_reopen_eight_fertiliser_plants/articleshowcnews/1898486.cms
" New Delhi : Eight fertilser plants, shut down during the NDA regime, will be reopened, the government announced on Thursday.

The decision to reopen the fertiliser plants was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet today, Minister for Chemical and Fertilisers Ramvilas Paswan told PTI.

He said three plants of the Hindustan Fertiliser Corporation Limited (HFCL) and four plants of the Fertiliser Corporation of India (FCI) will be reopened following the Cabinet decision.

The HFCL plants are located at Barauni, Durgapur and Haldia, while the FCI plants are situated at Sindri, Ramagundam, Gorakhpur, Talcher and Korba, he said.

Paswan hoped that with the reopening of the closed plants there would be no need to import fertilisers over the next five years. "

Symantec Products for sale in Bangalore

After Office applications, .Net applications, Mail, etc its the turn of Security solutions from Symantec. Its not over TV nor radio, but its in the form of distributing pamphlets over footpath in Bangalore.

Some of the lines from the pamphlet:
"Your PC is your lifeline!"
"The most trusted security solution for your PC"
"2007 symantec product performance", etc

The pamphlet looks like being distibuted by yellow box rewards attracting by promising assured reward whenever you buy a symantec genuine product!

Surely, the IT market is slowly trying to have its eye over Indian markets..

Miss you!

He was my Linux guru.. He was the reason for my interest into it. He was my team mate in one of my college projects. We also worked on a Rajasthan State IBM sponsored project. But it never materialised. He was a good buddy. He is crazy, creative and fanatic.

But now he is no more. He is Balajirao Kapil Jamkar, a 2006 BITS B.E.Comp Sci. pass out and joined Microsoft, Hyd later. He met with an accident in Bangalore on 19th March 2007 which costed him his life.

Miss you a lot Kapil. May your soul rest in peace...

AeroIndia 2007

After a long and tiring journey from silkboard to yelhanka for nearly 2 hours, we reached the yelhanka air base to witness the much talked Airo India 2007 show at bangalore on 10th of february.

We were in there by 10.45am. We entered through the gate number 9(gates 8,8A,9 and 9A are open for public viewing and gate 1-6 for VIP's and exhibition entry) and we were greeted by tricolor parachutes falling down from the skies.. The show has begun..We grabbed a plastic chair each and settled ourselves by the side of the long runway in front of us.

The first one for the show was the Sarang helicopters(3). They have peacock shaped design on them and they performed many stunts including the dancing peacock in the end..Then there was a VT_HOC 2 seater light weight air craft. Then came the super sonic war planes - F16, MIG 35, FA18 .. we couldnot distinguish the broader differences among them..but only could distinguish their speeds!

By now we were tired of standing over those plastic chairs..in the hot sun for more than an hour..The problem was that except for the first 2-3 rows, all others seem to stand on chairs and watch the show..We took the initiative and slowly requested the one before us to sit.. and the result.. slowly people all over starting sitting in their chairs..allowing comfortable view for backsiders! Victory!

There was also a US helicopter on the show. Chinook was also present. Then came the monster.. Boeing C17..of US air force.. it was really a monster.. so big that u doubt will it fly in the air with such a huge body and 22 wheels! C17 is the second biggest air craft in the world.

Then there were magnificent display by the Suryakiran air planes..in the evening around 4.00pm. it was mind blowing..and no one should miss this. Suryakirans were the highlight of the complete air show.. forming the tricolor indian flag.

Apart from viewing airplanes..and their stunts..you also get to see various models of indian made air crafts..navy uniforms..got to get key chains, caps, T-shirts,etc with Air force emblem..

Its really taking all pains in going to the maginifienct show. The only disappointment is that though they have mentioned over backside of the entry ticket that no cameras or video cameras will be allowed in, the security din't look like minding it at all. It really disappointed me a lot as I couldnot take my camera in hoping for strict security regulations.
